Modern tracking
equipment is highly effective in tracking
marine vessels across the world. The electronic
sophistication can enable vessels to be
reviewed by control rooms and owners, via
PC, alike. In some cases, the capability
can be extended to enable visual and audio
capability within the vessel.
Systems can also
be activated that will “geo-fence”
vessels. This facility allows the vessel
to move across and through a given area
without activating a response at the control
room or with the owner. However, if the
vessel was to pass through an electronic
“fence”, the activation signal
would be sent showing where the vessel was
and real time details of its movements.
These systems allow owners
of vessels to hire or charter their craft
knowing that they have complete control
on the vessels movements and, therefore,
its true earning potential.
