Corruption in public and commercial life is an ever present threat. Whilst it is not considered normal business practice in the UK, there are many areas of operation around the globe, where corruption is endemic and an accepted way of life.
An anti corruption strategy is an essential part of the ethical practices of modern business and as part of an on going risk management/loss prevention programme. The strategy needs to be a top to bottom process that infuses all parts of the organisation and is fully understood and acknowledged by all staff.
The Strategy needs to be defined by Policy and, a Procedure should detail how the strategy is managed and developed, who is responsible for investigating allegations of corruption, which should include theft, fraud and deception.
